Bass Pro…or Bass “Amateur”?

A good friend of mine recently went to the Las Vegas Bass Pro to purchase some ammo. Not an uncommon task, we all do it. Heck I bought six cases of Winchester “AA” trap loads a couple of weeks ago. What made this visit unique for my pardner is that what he wanted was some .32 ACP defense (jacketed hollow points) loads for a 1903 Colt Pocket Hammerless Pistol.

.32 ACP is one of the most common of handgun rounds and Bass Pro did have some, but not “defensive” loads. They not only don’t carry JHP’s for the .32 ACP, they also don’t carry JHP’s for .25 ACP and .380’s. This, my friend found out is their corporate policy. It goes along with their corporate policy of not selling handguns with barrels of 3 inches or less! (I knew this as I’d inquired about getting one of the new Ruger CLP’s and was told the same thing.)

So here we have one of the largest sporting goods chains in America and it’s apparent that they DO NOT SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF!! At least not completely. Oh, they’ll sell you a Kimber Covert Carry, just don’t ask for a Kimber Ultra Carry II…or a Kel-Tec 3AT…or a Kahr of any form or fashion.

What hypocrites! My pard did get a lame ass excuse that there just isn’t any “demand” for the small caliber JHP’s, what a crock! They explained that they have only been in the handgun market for four years so that they are still trying to figure out what demand is. EXCUSE ME!! CCW is the fastest growing area for handgun sales in the U.S. This is a no brainer. Stock up on tiny, concealable pistols and sell all you got!!

Oh, this isn’t the only area that Bass Pro follows the “political correct” bent. Just try and find an AR style hunting rifle…you won’t find one at Bass Pro!! I thought after the Jim Zumbo fiasco of a year or so ago that everyone knew that the AR platform is great for hunting, plinking, home defense, and more. Anyone seen the new Remington R-15 VTR? Apparently Bass Pro hasn’t!!

So folks you make up your own mind. It’s obvious that Bass Pro is really an amateur when it comes to stocking defensive pistols, rifles and ammo. I don’t think I’ll be back any time soon. I’ll buy my .308 Winchester somewhere else. I’ll buy my Ruger CLP somewhere else. I’ll spend my money with sellers that understand that the Second Amendment and Section 11 ain’t about duck huntin’!!

WE MUST REMAIN EVER VIGILANT…EVER WATCHFUL!!

At least they carry handguns... unlike Dick's Sporting Goods. I just saw a sign in my neck the woods that said there was a Sportsman's Warehouse coming (Ann & US95). I've never been in one, but their website looks like they may be a good store.
